I've got the CVS version of the ALSA drivers to work on my
SBLive! 5.1 and Klipsch Promedia 5.1 analog speakers. At the moment,
I'd call it a partial success as it is quite quiet and has some
strange background noise (that sounds like digital output being mixed
in with the analog output).
The background noise seems to be associated with one of the
'Wave' related controls in alsamixer. If I turn it down the
background noise completely disappears. Unfortunately, it disappears
along with all other sound (well, I've only confirmed that with PCM
sound).
Since information on the SBLive! 5.1 seems to be such a common
request on this list and because there doesn't seem to be a piece of
documentation that has helped me, I would be happy to put together a
SBLive! 5.1 ALSA HOWTO, but I would need some help from somebody who
is more expert than me.
If you have any hints or you'd like to commit yourself to
helping, please contact me. Any hints on the recently implemented
SPDIF pass-through would also be useful for the HOWTO (but not to me
personally).
