I am unable to complete an Alsa 0.9.0beta12 install, using the install
notes by Eric Rzewnicki from this list dated 10 March 2002.

Dmesg tells me that alsa is installed, but when KDE loads, it is unable
to access /dev/dsp. I have set all my audio devices to group audio, to
which I belong.

I have re-compiled the kernel with module sound support, no sound cards
selected.

The SL-75DRV4 user's manual describes the on-board audio system as
Soundblaster Pro Hardware and Direct Sound Ready AC97 Codec.

I have tried both snd-card-SB16 and snd-ac97-codec and don't know if I
have used wrong sound card definitions or made other errors.

I don't know what to check, so any help is appreciated.

Thanks
