hey there. i've got a problem. so i was using an older version of alsa (0.5.12a), and everything was peachy.
when i upgraded to 0.9.0beta12, everything seemed to work fine until i started writing some code to use the newer API, and kept getting a "Sound protocol is not compatible" error whenever calling snd_pcm_open(). after banging my head against the wall for a while, i got around to downloading and compiling the newest version of alsa-utils, and now alsamixer & aplay give me the same error. older apps still work fine...the problem seems to be tied to the newer api. any insight? i'm theorizing that i somehow improperly installed the newer driver (and the old one is still being used?)...but i'm not sure what i missed (configure/make/make install is pretty easy to get right). i'm using a soundcard with the es1869 chip. -- John Ketchpaw [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
