Hi I am trying to get VIA 8233 on KT266 mother board (AthlonXP 1800+) to work. I am using Mandrake 8.2 beta3. Tried it also with 8.1 and with the latest stable and beta versions of alsa to no avail. The driver seems to load ok into memory, recognizing the card and its irq (22), and the mixer (using alsamixer) is able to control output levels (I can hear this when playing CDs). However, I am not able to play any other types of files (mp3, WAVs, AUs, etc.) I tried using aplay and it just hangs (i.e. just freezes when activated and does not do anything utill killed), like it is waiting for an interrupt that it never gets. In addition, the CD sound quality is very poor (lots of background noise).
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I would gladly provide more information when needed.
