I can't get alsa to use the midi interface to a soundblaster 512. I seem to have all the right modules loaded but playmid reports no playback device and pmidi just plays in silence. alsamixer/amixer show no synth device, which means I can't unmute it if it is there.
I used version 0.5.12a, compiled for the emu10k1 driver with sequencer support but no isapnp. All the right devices have been created and made members of audio. I added this to modules.conf: ======================================== # ALSA native device support alias char-major-116 snd options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1 snd_device_gid=29 alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1 # OSS/Free setup alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss ======================================== And /proc/asound/sndstat shows this: ======================================== Sound Driver:3.8.2-980706 (ALSA v0.5.12a emulation code) Kernel: Linux phaistos 2.4.17 #8 Sun Mar 10 02:02:52 GMT 2002 i686 Config options: 0 Installed drivers: Type 10: ALSA emulation Card config: Sound Blaster Live! at 0xd000, irq 12 Audio devices: 0: EMU10K1 (DUPLEX) Synth devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG Midi devices: 0: EMU10K1 MPU-401 (UART) Timers: 7: system timer ======================================== Am I missing something simple?
