Thanks, > Umesh > Hmmm, pardon me if I get you wrong, but what are you trying to do? Do you just want to get the alsa-driver / *-lib / ... - files extracted or do you want Windows drivers for your sound card? In first case, you are supposed to extract those files in Linux using tar -xvzf <filename.tar.gz> or tar -xvyf <filename.tar.bz2> {or tar -xvIf <filename.tar.bz2>, depending on your Linux distro}. Then, enter the directory created this way and do a ./configure && make && make install. Better read the documentation before getting started, or come back here if anything goes wrong. If you're trying to install the ALSA drivers onto a Windows installation: Give it up, it surely won't work. Get yourself drivers for your hardware that fit your OS or get yourself an OS that fits the ALSA drivers (I have to admit that the second option is the better one).
