I've just installed the latest beta ALSA drivers, and I can't seem to
get esd to intercept sound streams. A `ps -A | grep esd` reveals that
it is in fact running, yet I can't play multiple sources simultaneously
and the GNOME esd-panel-applet shows no activity when sounds are
played. ARTS has no problem intercepting sound streams and mixing
multiple sources.

Any help as to how to get esd and ALSA to play nice? I'm a GNOME
devotee and don't wanna switch to KDE just for multiple sound sources :)

My setup is:

RH 7.2 with cmipci driven soundcard (AudioExcel AV512)
ALSA 0.9beta10/10a drivers
recent Ximian GNOME (with esound-0.2.22-ximian.5)
latest stable KDE distro (2.2.2)
kernel 2.4.17

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

Cheers,
Glen
