[Alsa-user] help on thinkpad T21

Hi,   I have an IBM Thinkpad T21 (CS461x sound).  I installed the sound drivers using alsaconf in SuSE 7.3 – no problem.  However, I’ve switched to Slackware 8 and am having difficulty with the sound.  I was able to install the driver, lib and utils files, but still can’t get it to work.  I think I need to do some work with the kernel, but I don’t really know where to start.  I’m supposed to install soundcore??? Etc. . .  The How-To’s I’ve read haven’t clarified things for me.  The specific linux on laptops info I found wasn’t so clear either.   Any help?   Thanks
