Hmm, my .asoundrc is

  type plug
  slave {

}

pcm.delta66 {
        type hw
        card 1
}

pcm.soundblaster {
        type hw
        card 0
}

so I think it is just a (re)naming of my devices.

The plughw does work for me, see also
