Michael, Thank you for the asound.state you attached. I tried it, and now I can hear the background noise - but still no useful sound. Neither PCM (using alsaplayer with an MP3), nor CD pass-through... Funny because Alsa 0.5 with 2.4.9 and below used to work like charm for many months... Anybody knows what's going on?
