I upgraded from the stable release of the drivers (0.5.12a I think), and
am having a couple problems.
1. After upgrading, alsactl was complaining about my /etc/asound.conf.
I first tried to fix this file, but it was not clear what needs to be
in there, so I removed this file completely. Now I get no complaints
from alsactl, and modules load fine. But I can't help but thinking
that this file must exist.
2. With the 0.5.12a drivers I had sound from the front speakers, and
after upgrading I initially did not have any sound. So I messed
around with alsamixer and found that changing 'Wave Sur' gave me
sound but only in the rear speakers.
I think that these problems might all be related to the missing
/etc/asound.conf. I read some the docs included with the drivers
but became increasingly clueless. I am not sure what the file
SB-Live-mixer.txt is trying to explain. In addition there are
a lot of things that show up on the mixer that I have not seen
before and have no idea what they mean. Could somebody give me
a push in the right direction? Thanks for any help.
