Hello,

just out of curiosity I played with arecord yesterday
and tried several sampling rates on my M-Audio Audiophile 2496
(ice1712 chipset). Now I'm confused about two things:

1. I always thought soundcards are limited two a few
     fixed sampling rates (8000, 11025, 22050, 44100,...).
But arecord seems two record fine with any (odd) value I
     try with the -r parameter.
2. I also made recordings with up to 120kHz which is funny
regarding the name of the soundcard and it's specifications.
Is this like with, say, processors, which are specified
for a certain clock speed but can be overclocked to a
certain amount? Or is there some resampling going on in
     the alsa drivers?

Mirko
