Hi

On my notebook I have an internal soundcard (Yamaha, snd-card-ymfpci.o).
Occasionaly I add my nice harman kardon USB loudspeakers. I somehow managed
to get it working, but would like to know, if I configured it correctly.

For my soundcard alsaconf created the following entries in /etc/modules.conf
(I changed snd_cards_limit from 1 to 2):

alias char-major-116 snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-card-ymfpci
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=2
options snd-card-ymfpci snd_index=0

I added the following entries:

alias snd-card-1 audio
alias sound-slot-1 snd-card-1
alias sound-service-1-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-1-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-1-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-1-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-1-12 snd-pcm-oss

-- Is this the correct way to do it?
-- The USB device seems to be the default device (under KDE2.2 and freeamp)
-- when plugged in. Why?
-- How can the default device be selected?
-- The applications (freeamp) seem not like to have sound devices dynamicly
added or removed. Is this going to change?
-- kmix shows to tabs for both sound devices, but only the active device can
be manipulated. Is this correct?

Thanks
Tom
