Hi!

Yeah, it's a real pity with Areal. I own an SQ2500 card (a very nice card) and at some 
time used it under Linux. However, it functioned pretty badly.

The problem is, that the OSS drivers you see around are NOT open source (for the most 
part). They are based on Aureal's closed source modules. And the people that maintain 
the driver just try to hack around the bugs in those modules. The hardware specs for 
the chips were not released by Aureal, and Creative will never release them, of 
course. 

What can I say: it's a very cruel world. Aureal was one of the few companies that 
actually innovated something. And when they refused to bow down to the dragon 
(Creative) the dragon ate them. A real pity.
