Hi all
I've got my kernel ( RedHat 7.1 ) compiled with only sound support as
module ( soundcore.o ), without any other sound driver support.

Then I compiled The last Alsa package ( drivers, libs, utils ), without
any trouble, apart from a few preprocessor problems at drivers compile.

My card is a: Hercules Gamesurround Muse XL ( don't laugh ), i.e. a CMI
8738 compatible card. The available driver for it is: snd-card-cmipci

I compiled this package, with oss compatibility.

The whole modules are suitably configured in /etc/modules.conf all load
well.

For the moment, the card works fine with playing, probably recording,
Midi capabilities ( have been checking external Midi out only ), however,
the device driver /proc/alsasound/sndstat shows the Synth as "NOT ACTIVE IN
CONFIG".

By so far, the Audio is being showed as "(ADC/DAC DUPLEX), whenever I
try to play an mp3 file, either with mpg123, or plaympeg. Otherwise, it
appears as: "NOT ACTIVE IN CONFIG".

It appears that all devices work well, apart from the Synth capability.

So what could I do, in order to make the Synth capability, active?

I've installed the Jazz++ program, which works well, didn't try
recording from my keyboard until now, for the moment I can't output any
sound to the speakers, using the existing demo midi files. External Midi
works very well with it.

  Any suggestions?

  Best regards.

  Jean Francois Ortolo
