No,

running root and running user gives me _no_ difference (except the ouput is 
in English with root). I would like to correct the error message from above, 
that xine gives. In English (not translated by me) it reads:


ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:598:(snd_pcm_hw_open) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_PVERSION failed: 
Inappropriate ioctl for device
