Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I currently have it working under kernel 2.4.8-26mdk (well, it was working yesterday, but if you breathe on it, it breaks, so it might not be working today...) but not under kernel 2.4.16-1dmm under Linux Mandrake 8.1
Audio works in both kernels. However, the external MIDI port isn't working under the 2.4.16 kernel. When I attempt to play a MIDI file from a Konqueror file browser window's inline MIDI player thingie, sometimes it reports that /dev/sequencer is busy, but usually it simply fails to respond at all. The driver is 0.5.12 and whatever the other latest, stable 0.5.x versions of the lib/utils were (not the beta versions) from the ALSA main page as of yesterday. I used the same config options to compile the driver for both kernels. --with-sequencer=yes --with-isapnp=auto --with-arch=athlon --with-cards=ens1371 I have an SB PC 128 aka Ensoniq Audio PCI, and a Roland Sound Canvas connected to the MIDI port. Right now at this moment, the inline MIDI player is doing nothing at all, which is the same thing it does when I'm running the OSS/free driver, but ALSA is running. KMix has two mixers. When OSS is running, the ALSA mixer is broken, and vice versa. The ALSA mixer is working. /proc/modules follows.
