I borrow a notebook again so I tested.
Yes, there was an obvious bug -  missing removal of interrupt handler
at unloading.  It's fixed on cvs now.  At least, hang-up should not
happen, well, so often -- my dell latitude CPt freezes occasionally
(but seldom) when I restarted ALSA several times in short time after
playback.

Also, now the driver exits when no valid signature is found.  So it's
much surer.

Anyway, please give a try.  hopefully it works on yours.
