Hi all, and thanks in advance for support.

I got an als4000 (pci), and I can't get joystick support to work, with
kernel 2.4.9.
I do not know if alsa is part of the problem but I don't even know
where to start to solve my problem:

> modprobe snd-card-als4000

[everything ok]

> modprobe ns558

/lib/modules/2.4.9/kernel/drivers/char/joystick/ns558.o: init_module:
No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.4.9/kernel/drivers/char/joystick/ns558.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.9/kernel/drivers/char/joystick/ns558.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.9/kernel/drivers/char/joystick/ns558.o: insmod ns558
failed

Everything else is ok.

I've seen a pdf with every goodie about als4000, but I don't understand
if alsa still lacks a driver for some sort of proprietary joystick
interface or what...

Besides, I can't get sequencer support compiled, gcc complains about
many structure fields undeclared, I have debian's kernel-sources

If a driver is needed, maybe I am the one who can code it, but I still
understand nothing about linux 2.4 (which I need to use by now)

Thanks

Vincenzo Ciancia
