Being new to Alsa I'm struggling to get the Alsa drivers working for an
Ensoniq es1371 PCI card.

Using kernel 2.2.16 in slackware 7.1.

Compiled a new kernel with sound built in, but no card selected.

Collected alsa-driver-0.5.9d, alsa-lib-0.5.9 and alsa-utils-0.5.9b.
Configured them all, maked them all, and make installed them all, in
that order. Everything seemed to go perfectly and a whole heap of new
modules appeared in /lib/modules/2.2.16/misc all starting with snd-***,
and including snd-card-ens1371.o, snd-mixer-oss.o, and sound-pcm-oss.o.

Ran ./snddevices and created a lot of new devices under /dev.

Put a line "alias char-major-116 snd" in /etc/modules.conf.

Then tried (as root) "modprobe snd-card-ens1371.o" only to get :
"Can't locate module snd-card-ens1371.o".

Very disappointing. Would somebody please give me a pointer as to where
I am being thick, and what else I need to do to get the drivers pumping.

Thanks in advance for contributions.
