Is the ess1879 supported under alsa. I read that it is from the manufacturer of my laptop. I am using a compaq armada 7800. I was wondering if i would use the es18xx drivers or not. I am not new to alsa. I have compiled the drivers for the ess 1879 and recieved tons of errors. The card did not work for me. I had read that others users could not get it to work with that driver either. I have read that there was some success with using the sb8 driver. I am currently using the oss sb driver on it now.
