Is it possible to expunge someone else's blots by writing an apology
for them?

If not, I'm strongly against this because it would imply that you'd
need to intentionally violate the rules (or, at least, cause the
Referee to think you're violating the rules) in order to get a win by
Ribbons.

(Even if so, I'm somewhat against it because it might start a race to
see who can get the apology written first.)
