I like option 3 best of those presented, and suggest the currency be
named Solons, after the ancient Athenian statesman.

This isn't the worst thing, but I feel like in order to really make
space interesting, there needs to be a currency here. I see three

2. create some sort of "space-bucks," probably earned from winning
battles or something
3. use something in the Politics system as currency
