In general, this sounds like a neat idea to me. Make that logic puzzles
instead of language-related stuff and I'm in. :)
Believe me, I'd rather do logic puzzles, I just don't want to over-commit
myself to making complex puzzles every month if I'm promising to do it,
so I was erring on the side of simplicity.
* Ditloids - Like text-only rebuses. Ex: 3 B M = Three Blind Mice. I
like these because they're not easy to machine-solve, and the PuMa
could include the character count of the correct answer to make it
more verifiable.

How is that not easily machine-solvable?
Unless I'm missing something, your search space would be insane in most
cases. Sure you could generate possible solutions, but even with the
character count how many possible word combinations would you have for
that example? This seems like a process that's faster in your head than
by machine.

I'm not really attached to either of the word games particularly, so I'm
open to replacement suggestions. We can of course change the games as we
go as well.
