Well, omd proposed a fairly radical reform in October. Proposal 7608 here: http://www.agoranomic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/private/agora-official/2013-October/010556.html
It got a lot of good response, but failed because it (maybe!) was broken in a very specific (and easily fixable) way which might have caused it to break the whole proposal system if it passed. If that were fixed up it might do very well (I kinda assumed e would, but e hasn't). But simplification of course runs into trouble. For example, one might say the "dependent actions" rule is very complicated and long (it is!) But the mechanism behind it is a great and simple one: post something, people Support and Object, and the Supporters/Objectors decide what happens. That's really a very simple and intuitive way to actually adopt game changes. So would whatever replaced it actually be "better" because it was written more shortly? Officeholders are another example. I think we want to continue to divide responsibilities between us (rather than have the Speaker do it all, for example). And if so, Elections are often more interesting than not. But could the rule for holding an election be simpler, if we want to have nominations and so forth? On the other hand, removing the "Agoran Decision" layer from proposals, as omd proposed, is a great simplification I think; that layer doesn't add much and is quite complicated. One version I had, that I liked, removed a huge amount of legalese (e.g. edge cases). That might be a way to go... -G. On Wed, 1 Jan 2014, Henri Bouchard wrote: > My apologies.
