I have an actual, serious, real thing I'd like to submit, but I'm sure I'd word it like a drooling idiot grasping a crayon in eir fist doodling on construction paper and expecting the resulting abomination to be adhered to the electric food-storage unit for all to admire.
The tune goes a little something like this: Every rule should have a post-script indicating the intent of the rule. For example, rule 2288 might read something like, "The intent of this rule is to clearly establish a set of democratic rules for actions that will affect other players..." and so on. I'm not sure how we'd go about adding intent-of-rule post-scripts to existing rules, especially since the point of some of them is to be open to interpretation, but I think it would be delightful for new rules proposed to have an intent-of-rule clause included, or at least have that be an option. The intent of this rule: To avoid bickering or long judgements about rules that may have open interpretations and to prevent people from intentionally inventing alternate interpretations to suit their own ends instead of using the rule to prevent / protect / enforce the original ideal of the rule as it was created. Also, perhaps amendments to rules should include intent clauses as well?
