[ A replacement Ribbons system in which all awards are "hard". Some of the easier Photons are the same difficulty as some of the harder Ribbons. I've tried to cover the full range of ways of participating in Agora, but the requirement of "no easy awards" means there's nothing to do with judging a case and only one to do with proposals. Partly so that the judicial system isn't entirely excluded, two of the awards are deliberately a little subjective. As you'll see, this is designed to be really hard to achieve; a win by this method would be a rare and special event. ]
Photons are a class of fixed assets; their ownership is restricted to players. Each Photon has exactly one type; each type of Photon is a currency. The Herald is the recordkeeper of Photons. At any time after a player earns a Photon as described below, any player CAN once award that Photon to the player by announcement, unless the player already owns a copy of that type of Photon; the Herald SHOULD attempt to make these awards. (+R) When a player is the only player to have held a particular elected office in the past twelve months, they earn a Radio Wave Photon. A player CANNOT earn a Radio Wave Photon twice for the same office. (+M) When a player is awarded a degree of rank Master of Nomic or higher, they earn a Microwave Photon. (+I) When a player satisfies the Victory Condition of Clout, they earn an Infrared Photon. (+V) When a proposal is adopted which adds a substantial and reasonably novel system of gameplay to Agora, its author earns a Visible Light Photon. (+U) When a player organises a significant event in celebration of Agora's Birthday, such as a round of Blitz Nomic or a discussion of Agora's history, they earn an Ultraviolet Photon. To qualify, such an event must be held in the month of June and participated in by at least three players other than the organiser. (+X) When a player satisfies the Victory Condition of Paradox, they earn an X-ray Photon. (+G) When a player becomes the Speaker, they earn a Gamma Photon. Any player CAN, by announcement, destroy 6 Photons in eir possession, each of a different type, to satisfy the Victory Condition of Enlightenment. The Herald SHALL award the Patent Title of Enlightened to such players in a timely manner after they win by this method. -- Walker
