It's quite rare for me to have dreams about nomic, but I did last night.
Basically what happened in the dream was that we'd enacted a rule
allowing players to temporarily ignore rules that they didn't like (the
dream wasn't clear on the details, but I think it was some sort of heavy
rate limit). In the dream, omd had suspended the last paragraph of rule
2125, and was busily violating SHALL requirements to gain advantages,
knowing that it was no longer frowned on to do so because he'd suspended
the relevant sentence (and the other players went along with this,
while, of course, trying to administer criminal punishments to him,
which he was busily dodging using a combination of scams and exploiting
bureaucracy).

(FWIW, I'm not sure disabling rule 2125 like that would actually have
that effect on the actual nomic playerbase. But it worked in the dream.)

I think the dream might have been suggesting a good idea for a nomicy
gameplay thing that might actually get the nomic more active. Something
where we have a different rule sentence disabled each week, perhaps, and
some sort of rotating office who chooses which one it is? I'm not sure
if this is better with or without a safety valve. (Agora /should/ be
able to survive missing any single sentence from its ruleset, but
sometimes I'm not so sure…) A sort of scam-of-the-week contest, as it
were. Whoever chooses which sentence to disable would clearly have an
advantage, as they could think up the scams ahead of time.
