I'd like to thank everyone who has supported the creation of a new
government for Earth. I knew I wouldn't be alone in doing the work.
The next step for us will be to choose a title for the colony's
leader. Thus far, we've had two very valuable and justified points
of view: to call it "governor" so that all colonies are equal and
none looks to be of higher rank, or to use a previously unused title
to make it more distinctive but perhaps less useful as a descriptor.
In the spirit of our new direct democracy, all Earth citizens are
hereby given two weeks (from now until May 26th, plus or minus a day
or so) to cast a vote for what they think the job should be called.
Votes can be on the list publically or to me privately and the
majority will rule.
Once we've picked a title, we'll pick a person to hold it in the
same way, unless we think of a better one in the meantime.
