It also raises the withdrawal rates, which makes it less attractive to deposit the currencies that didn't get raised. I've actually been thinking about lowering rates overall, which would benefit existing chit-holders by increasing their buying power; additionally, if we establish a record of lowering rates, then depositing might start to look attractive as a longer term investment. -root
