Even looking only at geographical regions where bears have historically been found, there are thousands of natural human spoken languages, no doubt some of them still unknown to science. In many cases, conventions for transcription into Latin script are not settled. It's utterly unworkable to insist that a player be aware of the words for "bear" in all of these languages.
You could make an explicit list of languages, as long as they are all reasonably researchable. Throw in Basque and Sanskrit if you like, at least there we can get solid answers in a finite time. -zefram
