As for John's finding, nice pdf. I'm gonna go through every one of them here:
There's a lot of theories for one's 'self', isn't there? None can be measured.
You CAN make PERFECT clones run in perfect parallel in the same computer.
Copies ARE you. We can't test if a ghost is linked to a machine though. You can
trick people into thinking you are back from the dead or are 'alive' again
after organ, neuro, or memory transplant (we change every day at the particle
level! Grow in size. Have memory loss. Yes you can have a twin with no shared
memories, or same memory but different body, you can build anything, upload a
algorithm with memories, model data, make a brain with wires instead of axons,
there's no ghosts though in the AI field, Please! You can have a machine that
experience greater sensor sensitivity or higher productivity than you or is
whatever, 'happy', or 'pretty'. Or machines that only have data and can't tell
if they see/feel a sim or are in a real world with others, as its all just
deterministic particle laws anyway. You can make a machine that appears human
but is a pre-programmed dummy with a blanket over it, like wizard of Oz Turing
Passable appearance. You can't have magic, only deterministic or truly random
(not clock time) particle physics. All others can or not be you as a machine,
currently on Earth we are all different, as for ghosts, we can't verify any
ghost exists, only speculate and use claims if meet up with a gunman and need a
excuse to live. You can record 'people' or anything, even all of Earth 24/7.
You can have real aliens,  ghosts, demons, AIs, zombies, Jesus, Buddha,
animals, hybrids, pedophilia, gays, beastality, anything, in a sim, that do
magic like resurrect the dead and teleport, and have followers, it's not
technologically impossible! You can slowly replace memories, body, or remove
them slowly, cyborgization,  tool use to extend urself. You can blink and halt
'consciousnesses' (consciousness if not important.) or talk about the
recognition frame rate in a brain's slow speed. Humans dream and think they see
real people, real snowy mountains, are really back in kindergarden. They
daydream and even see things if old or on drugs. Whether simulation or not,
there's no such thing as an observor or time, there's just a big space full of
particles. There's no sensory 'moments'. "An observer is real but the world
around him is like a zombie" whatever you want, as I said. You can have
evolution of a mind, group of people, Earth, you can sleepwalk, and have
sub-conscious functions. It's all mechanics, there's no one feeling pain. Only
us doing our thing, bitching. "Zombie-world: World without any observer The
universe without any observers is conceivable but is it really possible? Could
we say that it exists if it has not any casual connections with any observers"
Yes we may have just that. "A mind which is able only to repeat some past
activities." You can have whatever you want as said, machines can do all,
ghosts have no gears. "animals qualia: do they feel and what? Does fish feel
pain? Do they feel and suffer? We will never know what feels the frog in the
pond" Pain doesn't exist in machines, neither does death. We are machines that
resist death and harm, some don't. Big data learns segmentation of a cat on a
background, so segmentation of 'you' is possible but again has no use and
there's no ghosts to test. "It may have qualia and experience, but it just lack
of soul." Omg no, you can only have a machine, be it a good one or a too easily
killable one. The stronger ones got data, they in a sense have a good kick to
stay alive and ward you off surely. You can have a machine with adjustable
random parameter to go from predictable to white noise. You can control a robot
mind by joystick. We can evolve and change to ANY body and ANY beliefs DO YOU
UNDERSTAND. We can become all same, and then deviate away so that I'm russian
and you're a jap and I forget about my AI work. Looks like there's no ghosts
and us tin cans can't even see ourselves nor have anyone see we are here either.
