Think about it for a moment - when two democratically ruled "countries" like the North and South take up arms against each other over some issue - the very principle of democracy must first be summarily discarded. We are now just "paying our dues" for following this crazy rejection of democracy, as is Iraq, much of the Middle East, etc. All AI/AGI can do in this environment is serve as better glued to hold empires together, and thereby make things even worse for everyone - like putting a stronger case on a bomb. I see AGI as a potential solution to these problems, AI/AGI seems to be following the same path that explosive development followed. Remember where Nobel of the Nobel Prize came from - developing better explosives to end war - only to make war even more horrendous and leading to WW1 and WW2.
