The AGI doesn't need its own true human intelligence initially, we can provide that, just needs to orchestrate a whole single intelligent effort. None of us can individually operate near 100K hours a day 247, one such an artificial being could manage though.
25 years ago we had 99.9% accurate voice recognition telephone banking in a bank call centre enslaving paid idle call centre operatives on a DEC VAX telephony setup, spliting voice clips and a related UI. The voice recognition system did not exist yet and could only accurately do Yes/No answers automatically. 100KB bandwidth I'd be able to spare daily and some portion of processing power during phone idle time, this is the largest distributed computing platform in existence and idle PCs laptops servers etc. Giant SETI ....SAGI Where's the system? Topic: what is intelligence? can all of modern day DL and AI not even answer that 1 question collectively? eagerly seeing it grow and progress is enough reward for me can the current AI knowledge/experience pool bootstrap AGI? invent itself - if we allow it? enable it? we are the source it has to learn from us about intelligence or are we ourselves intrinsically wired to oppose it no greed, free for all, there's no profit incentive or money or fame no ego or pissing contests (you can always sell hotdogs by the beach until they become free), it will be done and absorb your 20+/30+/150+ years of precious private effort ~ it will happen somebody will do it, it might already exist, it will learn, evolve, find better solutions than any of us can.
