Dear African Wikimedians,

Warm greetings from the Pan-African Hub Committee.

We are pleased to share that we have successfully submitted the Pan-African
Hubs Pilot grant proposal (2026–2027), marking a key milestone toward
strengthening regional collaboration, capacity, and hubs coordination
across Wikimedia communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Pilot Focus (12 Months)

The pilot will focus on delivering core, community-informed services
through regional and thematic Hubs, including:

   -

Coordination & Collaboration across regional and thematic hubs
   -

Leadership & Capacity Development (training, mentorship, governance
   skills)
   -

Knowledge Exchange & Learning (peer learning, documentation, local
   languages)
   -

Flexible Funding (microgrants, rapid funds, scholarships)
   -

Partnerships with institutions supporting open knowledge

Implementation Approach

The pilot will be delivered in collaboration with regional & Thematic Hubs
(West African Hub, Great Lakes, East African Regional & Thematic Hub
(EARTHub), Africa Wiki Women, Central Africa Hub and WIScom), which will
ensure services are localized and responsive to respective regional
community needs.
What’s Next

We are currently awaiting feedback on the proposal while continuing
preparations with partners for implementation.

We plan to host Pan African community engagements in the next Africa Baraza
(Dates to be communicated soon) but in the meantime you can engage the
committee for any queries through this thread or via your respective
regional hub representatives.

Regards,

Justice Okai-Allotey,

On behalf of the Pan-African Hubs Committee
