Hello Wikimedians,

Wikimedia User Group Nigeria (WUGN) is working on an advocacy project to
raise awareness about Wikipedia and its sister projects among Nigerians.
This project will use 2D animation to tell engaging stories that highlight
real-life impacts, cultural heritage, and the importance of local
languages, inspiring greater participation and community-driven knowledge
creation.

We are seeking community members to volunteer to support our expert
animators by joining a dedicated team that reflects:

1. Regional spread
2. In-depth understanding of Wikipedia and its sister projects
3. Storytelling skills
4. Voice-over expertise, especially in local languages
5. Local experiences of how Wikipedia has impacted you or someone in your
community

This team will work about 4–6 weeks (approximately two hours per week) to
guide the 2D animators in designing this impactful project.

Benefits of Participating in the Project:

1. Skill Development: Enhance your storytelling, voice-over, and advocacy
skills by contributing to a creative animation project.

2. Recognition: Be acknowledged for your efforts in advancing the Wikimedia
mission through impactful advocacy work. The project will have a wiki page
and several diffs will be written on the project. Members of the team may
write the diffs or be mentioned in the diffs.

3. Networking Opportunities: Collaborate with expert animators, Wikimedia
advocates, and a diverse team of contributors across Nigeria.

4. Cultural Impact: Play a vital role in promoting Nigerian culture and
languages while advancing knowledge equity.

5. Professional Growth: Strengthen your portfolio by participating in a
groundbreaking initiative that uses 2D animation for advocacy.

6. Community Contribution: Help grow Wikimedia projects in Nigeria by
inspiring greater public engagement and participation.
