My town has a famous resident known as Superman who is autistic.  Apparently 
someone made a short documentary about him.

Recently the 4th of July parade has been rerouted due to downtown construction, 
but I remember him marching in the parade dressed as Superman.

He is not just a nerd (I resemble that after all; in a past life a co-worker 
descibed me as a nerd, and my boss replied "We pay more for that.), but he is a 
self-described autistic. I'm not denegrating folks with autism, but they do 
have damaged filters.
