Musk does tend to be a “fabulist”. SpaceX however has a track record of mostly doing what they promise, including with Starlink. I have to admit I was impressed with how transparent they were with customers during beta and when they had just a couple hundred sats about dropouts, about what happens during peak times, an app to see if you had enough open sky, putting people on the waitlist until they had capacity, etc.
The industry in general has a problem with confusing total capacity with throughput per subscriber, but I actually don’t hear bad things from people who’ve gotten Starlink. It does sound like they’re talking about a new satellite design, and he didn’t say anything about timeframe. Or whether you would also need a new Starlink terminal.
