I saw a couple Santa Fe trucks in the past week. One must have been the top trim version and looked pretty nice, the other must have been older or the base version and looked pretty spartan not much fancier than a kei truck.I've seen some of the new Ford Broncos, quite fancy, kind of a lifestyle vehicle. You can spend $100K on the top trim versions. Not a work truck but you could wrap it and drive it around as advertising.---- Original Message ----From: "Trey Scarborough" Sent: 8/16/2024 9:36:37 AMTo: af@af.afmug.comSubject: Re: [AFMUG] Kei trucks They are not the same. They may have been marketed as such, but have different payload capacities, interior, etc. Only thing that is really the same is the frame and some of the body. I have driven both and if you think that a tacoma is a good work truck after you drive a hilux that would costs significantly less there would be no question of the one you would want. If it weren't for the light duty truck import tax we would likely be able to get a diesel hilux for less than 35k. It would be hard for you to get a base line tacoma for that. I wouldn't trade my F350 in for one, but I'd definitely have one rather than trying to get an all wheel drive maverick hybrid for a daily driver. https://www.hotcars.com/2024-toyota-tacoma-vs-hilux-difference-explained/ On 8/15/24 8:52 PM, Josh Luthman wrote: Tacoma is the US version of the Hilux. I was reading about the new Toyota Hilux Champ the other day. I really want one, but not likely we will see them in the US. Its really a shame that we can't own these trucks just so we could keep our monopoly on chicken in Europe. You know if a politician wants my vote they can run on the platform of allowing the import of Toyota Hilux trucks. On 8/6/24 6:14 AM, Josh Luthman wrote: Great to carry some people/tools (cheap!).?
