I had assumed it was JFK at 43, and that is correct if you go by age when 
ELECTED president.  But TR was 42 when he assumed the presidency upon 
McKinley’s assassination (he was vice president).  I remember at the time it 
was a big deal that JFK was so young, and (gasp!) a Catholic.
