We have an email server and we have some group email lists. One of them is
named “flash” and goes to the whole company.

Yesterday we had an issue with something that happened that was ungood.

So I sent a flash, “Hey everyone, someone sure left a mess in one of the
restrooms, just remember we have full camera coverage of the shop and an
approximate time that the mess was made. I personally cleaned up your mess.
If it happens again, you will get a write up”.

Their supervisor is on vacation but replied to me: Hey, was it XXX? I replied
to him: Nope

But as it turns out, his email to me, when inspecting the source, had his name
but the reply to address of the flash. So everyone then saw his email to me
and my reply to him.

I have pretty much proven it is not my email client. Could be our server or
his phone. The guys say he has an iphone. We tried to replicate it with other
iphones and android phones this morning. None of them hid that group email
address in the reply to name. So either his phone does something funky when
replying to me, as the originator of the group email or our email server does
something strange with just him. The only thing different between him and the
other test cases is his emails show up with just his first name. Everyone else
has a sender/reply to with first and last names.

Totally gunshy now. If anyone says anything sensitive Ima gonna check who I am
really replying to before I hit send.
