My assumption is that it's a scam or that it's extremely low quality data.

Every vendor up and down the chain Cvent, GES, Freeman, ChirpE, etc all collect and sell your data and/or the organizations as well. You agree to it when you sign up as the organization hosting the event and by the individual attendee. It makes me wish you could generate a virtual identity for attending trade shows.
