I have tried 3D scanners over the years, totally not impressed with lower cost
units. Crealty totally did not live up to their promotional materials.
So I took a chance on revopoint. They claim .05mm resolution. Scanned a
mechanical part that is about the size of a hardback book with various holes
and bosses and cutout shapes. Some of it is machined, some rough cast aluminum.
The results were fantastic. My solidworks is old and I never bought the stl to
solidworks add in, but one of my sons found a person in asia that would clean
it and convert it for $10. Money well spent. Got back a perfect 3d solid
model and it measures to less than .002” or exactly the accuracy they
advertised.
I learned there is this special evaporating paint that you want to spray on
anything you are scanning. It provides a thin matt finish and is white so it
reflects the scanning light or laser very well. Crap results without the
scanning paint.
I will post a photo.
