Have a problem with a 40 hp motor that runs my waterjet. Odd, has 6 wires powering it. All of them come from the starter contactors. Seems like some of the contactors are shorting out the wires and 3 of the wires seem to be hot all the time. What the heck?
First exposure to star delta starters. Clever. Surprised I have never encountered them before. Allows a softer start and less starting current. Not exactly what causes them to switch from star ( y ) to delta. Probably a timer. Maybe a decrease in current does it.
