Furnace, I got corrected the other day, if you are above 500 degrees (not sure
if that is C or F) it is a furnace.

An open waveguide is actually a pretty good antenna with a return loss of
around 10 dB. But then it is piped into a box that is totally reflective. In
my case I aim the field at a layer of silicon carbide to absorb the energy and
convert it to heat.

Yeah, and it's likely to blow the magnatron from the VSWR mismatch. It's
been 50 years since I worked with that stuff and had the fancy government
tools. Kind of miss it.

1250 watts of 5GHz radiation or 2GHz of radiation (whichever spectrum it
was designed for) is damn dangerous if not shielded. I knew people who died
from that. Someone turned on a radar while the array was being worked on. He
died. You could pull a Daniel Jackson, but Olma won't ascend you.

Turns out I had a thermocouple wire leaking some RF. Burnt the piss out
of my fingers, like picking up a red hot paper clip. Shut off the magnetron
and the wire was totally cool to the touch. Bit of aluminum foil as a choke
and all was well. Next step is coupling a second magnetron to this cavity.
