I wonder what would happen if you put foil on the inside of the syncbox
everywhere except for a window for the GPS module?
Or just a sheet of metal in the direction of where you think the interference
is coming from.

And/or, put a parasitic antenna element above the GPS module on the outside.
It would just be a metallic disk of the right diameter. Experiment with
spacing. I am guessing about a 4” diameter metallic disk. Actually you would
want to go about 3.5 inches. It needs to be smaller than a resonant patch.

You could also put a ring in place of the disk. A choke ring. Too lazy to
calculate it but it would probably be about 6-8” diameter.

Forrest could experiment with this and see if he can get some more
gain/directivity out of the system.

Hi forest,

Yes we have rack injectors on site providing sync over power to the APs.
However, we always like to have two sync sources especially at this site which
is at 10,500 feet, gets an average of 400” of snow per year and is difficult to
access fall/winter/spring because of snow or mud.

What’s odd is we also have a UGPSs at this tower (to provide sync to our two
CBRS 450m’s) and the UGPS isn’t loosing lock under the heavy interference.
Unfortunately the UGPS only does sync for 2 APs so we’d have to install 6 of
them for the 5ghz array we have there instead of the one syncbox 12.

Thanks,

Sean

There isn't a good solution for timing port sync.

However, there's always the power port sync option. For modern radios, you
should be able to use a powerinjector+cambium sync up top, with the GPS
receiver down near the bottom.

Does anyone know if there is a way to either mount an external gps antenna
or send sync from say a syncbox jr to a syncbox 12?

We are on a commercial tower and with the syncbox 12 mounted near our APs
there’s too much interference to get gps sync (probably due to some nearby
cellular gear). The only place we can get sync is near the ground so that
would require running 12 sync cables up the tower in a shielded conduit.

We tried contacting PacketFlux support but haven’t received a response yet.
