  That's not going to work.  The media converter would have to support GPON 
SFPs, GPON framing and burst mode. Those do exist and are called GPON extenders 
or repeaters.

  You can extend reach to 60 km per OEO conversion, but normal time of flight 
rules apply, so all customers have to be within 20 km of each other.
  You can also do this over CWDM/DWDM if that's your thing and/or you need 
multiple PON trees over a single dark fiber.
