I went to Walgreens to pick up some drugstore items, which sadly now seems to be only about 10% of what they sell.
But on the way to the checkout, they have a couple aisles of grocery items, clearly targeted to people of a certain age group. I noticed a shelf with Vienna sausages, corned beef hash, Spam, and Spam Lite. Not sure what they do to the Spam to make it Lite. These 4 items were right next to each other, probably the same target customers. Also not sure why items with almost infinite shelf life would be a last minute purchase. Whoa, Martha, I’ve got to run out to Walgreens, we’re out of Vienna sausages. Maybe after a certain age you don’t buy the 24-pack of anything at Costco for fear of leaving your heirs with 23 cans of Vienna sausages. Like the story about why Trader Joe’s sells individual bananas 19 cents each.
