Discouraging new customers I guess. I think it’s targeted at the enterprise market and the outside managed services providers (MSP) who sell the equipment. The typical business customer just goes with whatever the managed services provider recommends and is happy that the MSP gave them a 20% discount on the equipment, not realizing it was still double what the MSP paid for it. Juniper does have a service provider team, but if you are not a Fortune 500 company they really don’t care to deal with you. Y’all are pesky, ask a lot of questions, bitch when the gear doesn’t work exactly right, don’t want to pay them to fix it, and keep bringing up $50 Mikrotik routers. Don’t take that the wrong way - the Juniper gear is great stuff. You just have to find a way to beat the pricing down to something reasonable. It can be done with some work and arm twisting.
