If you swung it just right at the back of the neck, you could snatch out the
spinal cord. That would probably slow down you attacker.

I have been making my crew handhole hooks for some time. I came up with a
real nice method.

  Buy one of these:

Local truck stops frequently stock them.

Put the hook end in a vice and put a large box end wrench or a pipe wrench
over the T handle and twist it 90 degrees.

Then, with the vice, open the hook up about maybe 30 degrees. Not too much
but more than it is stock.

Then take an angle or bench grinder and put a chisel point on it so you can
whack it into the slot that is always full of dirt.
You might also grind the sides a bit to narrow them.

They are light and easy to throw in the trunk of a car or behind a pickup
seat. Cheap enough that everyone can have one.
And super easy to make if you should lose or break one.

Have not broke one yet. The cheaper ones don't have the little leg sticking
out the back. Sometimes that leg is nice to push a lid back into place.
